Practice what you preach is todays' theme.... In any of my programs I always advised the public re-nesting is ALWAYS THE FIRST OPTION! We received a call for a couple of baby Red Tail Hawks that had fallen from the nest. We responded to check it out with a plastic flower pot to re-nest them. The Mother was flying back and forth. She would sit and scream to scare us off. We knew she wanted all her babies. While we were getting the first two in the new nest # three fell right in front of me. We discovered that the original nest was swaying badly between the two trees that she had made her nest in between. We discovered that the nest seemed to be full of holes. Then #4 appeared in the original nest He seemed to be peeking over the edge. Although we couldn't reach the original nest, we advised the homeowner (also an animal lover) she should keep watch for #4. Sure enough next day she called and we went back to renest #4.
