If you have a bird or mammal that is injured :

Please do not handle raccoon, skunk or bat these are listed as  Rabies Vector species in New York State.

Anyone of these species can be dangerous to you and your family because they can may carry the rabies virus. Even if they are babies!

Email me at wildones@frontiernet.net  for help before touching any of them.

Birds and small mammals can be placed  in a box with paper towels in it to keep them warm. The box must have air holes in the lid.  Place the box in a quiet area until you can get help from a rehabber.

Call a rehabber if you are in doubt what you should do.

If you have encountered an Owl or Hawk that is injured:

Do not try to handle an Owl or Hawk. Have someone call a rehabber while you watch where the bird is. Remember they will use all their defenses and may injure you. They do not know you are trying to help!!
